Olikrom honored for excellence in industrial property

Gironde-based SME Olikrom has just been selected as one of the finalists for the INPI 2024 Trophées in the “Industry” category. Founded in 2014 in Pessac, the company is renowned for its mastery of so-called “smart” materials, capable of changing color in response to variations in temperature, pressure, light or the presence of a gas or solvent. This nomination, shared with two other French companies – Adhex (Burgundy) and Cristalens (Brittany) – highlights the rigorous industrial protection strategy pursued by Olikrom, notably through its patents for LuminoKrom® technology.

Chaired this year by Bruno Bonnell, General Secretary for Investment, the INPI Trophies ceremony rewards high-tech companies that use intellectual property as a lever for growth. For Olikrom, this recognition confirms the solidity of its business model, at the crossroads of chemistry, safety and the ecological transition.

LuminoKrom® equips Vélodyssée, a symbol of sustainable innovation in the field

One of Olikrom’s most emblematic projects, LuminoKrom® photoluminescent paint, is now being deployed on the Vélodyssée, the major cycle route along the northern Arcachon basin. Already applied to a 10-km stretch between Andernos-les-Bains and Lanton in summer 2024, it will continue to progress along the remaining 25 kilometers until June 2025. This paint captures natural or artificial light during the day and restores it in the dark for over ten hours, with no power consumption or CO₂ emissions.

At a time when many local authorities are cutting back on public lighting to reduce energy consumption and light pollution, LuminoKrom® is proving to be a concrete response to the challenges of safety and energy efficiency. Deployed in over 150 communities across France, this technology continues to demonstrate its robustness and effectiveness in the field. Being a finalist in the INPI Trophies only confirms Olikrom’s ambition to become a key player in French industrial innovation for sustainable mobility.
