French paint guides users without light pollution
Invited on Europe 1, Jean-François Létard, founder of Olikrom, presented LuminoKrom®, a photoluminescent paint capable of capturing daylight and releasing it for over 10 hours at night. Produced in Pessac and already deployed in over 150 French local authorities, this electricity-free innovation provides safe visual guidance for cyclists and pedestrians, particularly in unlit areas. With visibility of up to 80 meters, LuminoKrom® anticipates bends, stops and obstacles, offering a sustainable solution for combating light pollution and enhancing the safety of soft mobility.
An economical and ecological alternative to energy challenges
At a time when local authorities are looking to reduce their energy consumption, LuminoKrom® offers a cost-effective alternative to street lighting: 10,000€ per kilometer compared with 200,000€ to 400,000€ for conventional installations. Easy to install, with no need for major work or connections, this technology can be adapted to all seasons and climates. Already exported to Canada, Belgium, Switzerland and Africa, the solution is also appealing for its ability to fit in with energy-saving policies. Thanks to its performance and rapid deployment, LuminoKrom® is transforming the way night-time areas are developed.
