LuminoKrom® success boosts industrial output

Faced with strong growth in sales of its LuminoKrom® photoluminescent paint, Olikrom is investing nearly 6 million euros to triple the size of its industrial site in Pessac. This extension, supported by the Nouvelle-Aquitaine Region and Bpifrance, will increase production of the smart marking capable of lighting up for ten hours without any electricity consumption. Launched in 2019 after an initial trial in Pessac in 2018 with Eiffage, LuminoKrom® is experiencing impressive acceleration, with more than 130 sites underway by the end of 2022, compared with 63 six months earlier. This solution is proving popular with local authorities committed to energy efficiency.

New lines, new markets and intelligent eco-designed coatings

The enlarged site will also host the manufacture of new intelligent color-change coatings, meeting the needs of numerous sectors: health (substitutes for carcinogenic components), luxury (sustainable materials), industrial safety (leak or shock detection) and anti-counterfeiting. Olikrom works on formulations to guarantee product performance, in a spirit of eco-design shared with its partners. The company is already working with big names such as Airbus, Safran, GRTgaz, ArianeGroup and Eiffage, and is establishing itself as a benchmark player in customized functional materials.
