A strategic innovation unveiled at the Paris Air Show

OliKrom, a pioneer in intelligent color-changing materials, took advantage of the Paris Air Show 2025 to unveil VisioKrom®: a new-generation thermochromic pigment developed 100% in France at its Pessac industrial site. This patented technology, fully integrated into OliKrom’s product range, makes it possible for the first time to temporarily visualize anti-corrosion coatings applied to metal parts, while guaranteeing the coating’s mechanical and conductive properties.

On the Nouvelle-Aquitaine regional stand, the OliKrom team presented this innovation at the regional showcase of French industrial know-how. At a time when technological sovereignty and process traceability are becoming national and European priorities, VisioKrom® is a concrete response to the expectations of strategic industries such as aeronautics, rail, energy and defense.

 

 

VisioKrom® hailed as a major step forward in quality, safety and durability

The fruit of five years’ research and development, VisioKrom® is the result of an industrial partnership between OliKrom, Thales DMS, SECO (Aegis Plating) and L’Électrolyse. Together, they have designed a color solution compatible with trivalent chromium-based treatments – now used as an alternative to hexavalent chromium treatments, now banned as toxic. The challenge: to make these coatings visible for quality control purposes, without compromising their functional properties.

VisioKrom® acts as an intelligent tracer. It enables industrial operators to immediately identify treated surfaces, detect material shortages or excesses, ensure perfect homogeneity and limit the risk of non-conformity. The elimination of complex, costly and time-consuming control steps represents a major gain in productivity and safety in workshops.

This makes OliKrom a key player in industrial relocation and eco-designed innovation. Produced locally, VisioKrom® requires no modification of existing installations. It can be applied directly to the chemical baths used in industry, for immediate use. This adaptability reinforces its potential for large-scale deployment in critical sectors.
