Press release: Eiffage, Total, OliKrom and IFSTTAR are the winners of the “Road of the Future” call for projects

December 8, 2017

The I-STREET innovation project (Systemic Innovations for Ecological and Energy Transitions in Transport Road Infrastructures), led by the Eiffage Group, in exclusive partnership with Total, OliKrom and IFSTTAR, has just been declared the winner of the “Road of the Future” call for projects operated by ADEME as part of the future investment program (PIA).

The I-STREET consortium is based on four complementary partners:

  • Eiffage, one of Europe’s leading construction and concessions companies, is the project coordinator,
  • Total, a major energy player, present in more than 130 countries,
  • OliKrom, a start-up from the Aquitaine region, specializing in color intelligence, which has been multiplying patents and industrial contracts since its creation in 2014,
  • IFSTTAR (French Institute for Transport, Planning and Networks Science and Technology), the scientific referent and initiator of the “Road of the Future / 5G Road” concept, under the joint supervision of the Ministry of Ecological Transition and the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation.

I-STREET represents a commitment of more than €15 million over four years, with €10 million from the future investment program. It includes the creation of demonstrators in France, in Nantes, Toulouse, Lyon and Champs-sur-Marne. The project is part of a systemic approach: six technological building blocks will be developed, covering all the areas of the ADEME “Roads of the Future” call for projects, from the development of a more ecological road industry to the intelligent, instrumented and connected road, including the development of prefabricated/dismantled roads and innovative and safer road marking.
