Industrial safety

With more than 500,000 industrial facilities subject to declaration, France is one of the most densely industrialized countries in Europe, particularly in the nuclear, petroleum, chemical, pharmaceutical and phytosanitary sectors. Because of their number and nature, the issue of industrial risk is key at the national level.

By industrial safety, we mean accidental events originating from processes and human factors, and malicious acts. This field is in full expansion since the AZF accident in Toulouse in September 2001 and the recent terrorist acts which require increased vigilance.

Color intelligence for industrial safety

industrie 4.0In the field of industrial inspection, the idea of exploiting the “chameleon” property of certain coatings is gaining ground. The simple change of color of a coating on the outside of a part can indicate that a temperature has been exceeded, that a resistance threshold has been crossed (associated with either an impact or an abnormal stretching), the abnormal presence of a gas, an ionizing ray, a leak,…

The development of this generation of SmartKrom® allows non-destructive testing (NDT) of the integrity of structures or materials, without degrading them, during production, use, and maintenance.

This revolutionary visual inspection system offers the potential to inspect large areas and identify the defective area by a simple change of color. This visual alert is understandable by all! No wired implementation is necessary and the application is done by a simple deposit of ink, paint,… The optical modulation can also be controlled so that the detection is done by drone, by camera,…

OliKrom has become a key player in this fast-growing field by developing “tailor-made” solutions from idea to production. Our team of expert doctors and engineers is at your disposal. All industrial sectors concerned:

  • the oil industry (pipelines, tubes, bars, welds, tanks);
  • the shipbuilding industry (hull inspection);
  • Aeronautics (beams, aircraft wings, numerous engine parts, landing gear, etc.);
  • aerospace and military;
  • automotive industry (engine block control);
  • the steel industry;
  • boiler making and piping in manufacturing;
  • the energy industry: nuclear reactors, boilers, piping, turbines, etc. (maintenance of installations);
  • Railway manufacturing and maintenance, especially for safety components (axles, wheels, bogies);
  • food inspection;
  • Civil engineering and building.

And as a general rule in all sectors producing :

  • parts with high production costs in small quantities (e.g. nuclear, petrochemical);
  • parts whose operating reliability is critical (e.g. construction, nuclear, gas pipelines).
